We will meet for a debate overview from experienced debater and event judge, John Mark Porter. He will give our group a brief overview of debate, what teams do, what they are supposed to argue about, who the judges are, etc. Students will then be divided into viewing audiences in a few rooms. There will be a round of speech and then another debate round around 4:00, ending between 5:30 and 5:45. John Mark will meet with the group again at 5:30 to answer any questions and tell us more about the experience.

NCFCA has established a dynamic program of three types of formal debate with the ultimate goal of training young people to be able to think critically and communicate effectively about all issues in a manner that pleases God. Each style offers unique educational opportunities while including a focus on research skills, respectful argumentation, refutation, organization, and effective presentation and speaking skills. Because competitors must debate both sides of a topic, they learn to advocate for and oppose a proposition without compromising their own beliefs.

Lowcountry Field Trips will be attending the first day of the NCFCA Savannah Tournament as a field trip. Please remember we are guests. This is most appropriate for ages 12+
