The students will be learning how to germinate a common Coastal Region Native Plant of South Carolina called the Blackeyed Susan (scientific name: Rudbeckia hirta), which is part of the sunflower family. During the workshop, students will learn to do scientific note-taking, following a protocol, and will be instructed to continue the protocol after the workshop so that seeds will successfully germinate with roots coming out.
